TopsCNC : HEAVY

Description

After the first version of the TopsCNC, I wanted to go even further by creating a heavier and more stable CNC machine: the TopsCNC Heavy.

I stayed in the same spirit as the TopsCNC, using easily available components suitable for DIY manufacturing — such as V-Slot aluminum extrusions and T8 trapezoidal screws, combined with standard electronic components (Arduino + GRBL).

Evolution

As with the TopsCNC, there have been a few iterations and upgrades on this Heavy.

  • The base version is the "NEMA 17" version, with which I had satisfactory results. If you plan to make a machine of 1m - 1.2m and more or perform machining operations that require a bit more torque, you should take a look at the Heavy Nema23 upgrade.
  • The improvement of the "locking" of trapezoidal screws (compatible only with the Heavy Nema23 version).
  • The "MoreDepth" version, which allows for a taller Z carriage and more cutting depth.
