Ask me what you want to know about the TopsCNC 🇬🇧

In this topic you can ask me what you want to know about TopsCNC. I will add the frequently asked question to the main design page here :
TopsCNC Heavy - Design page

But please, read this topic BEFORE ask a question, maybe someone already ask the same question !

The goal of this topic is to stay clear, so each others can find answers too ;)

Hi Topsie,

I'm starting to build your HeavyCNC. At the moment I have started to print the firsts pieces.

I have some questions for you:

1 - Do you use the endstop? If yes where have you positioned they?

2 - The RPM of Makita are controlled by arduino? If yes where have you connected it?

3 - In your guide I've read that the length of t8 screw are the same length of the v-slot profile but in this section of the forum you write that the length of the screw used are 100mm more  short of them. Which is the correct length?

I think that's enough for now....but I think these will not the last questions....;-)))

See you,

Devils77

Bonjour,

Salut RVL, Tu as déjà terminé?? Tu as combien d’imprimante 3D...LOL

Hi Topsi,

this is a very nice CNC-Setup. It´s the one i like most of all setups which i have seen till now. Thanks for your work! I have printed all the parts, now am startin with installing. But i have some little questions for the parts you use.

Which kind of Aluminium-profile do you use for the build? Profiles with V-slot are a litte bit rare and expensive in Germany. If i look close to your Youtube-Build-ups i think it is a profile like this one?

https://aluprofile24.de/?cat=c34_Profil-Nut-5I-Aluminiumprofile--Nutprofile--Strebenprofile--Maschinenbauprofile--Systemprofile.html

Do you use a profile with a 5mm or 6mm slot?

And is a list available in which i can see which kind of srews you use for se different parts? You use srews with a lot of different heads if i look to your video.

Greetings from Germany!!

@Greg "Tu as déjà terminé?? Tu as combien d’imprimante 3D"

@Falk, I ordered from Ooznest. Take a look. They ship to Germany.

Finally I am almost determined to start construction. I will build the heavy version with NEMA 17 motors, but I have some doubts before starting to buy materials, they are as follows:

1. To start the construction of the HEAVY version machine with nema 17 engines, I must download the topscnc_heavy_v1 compressed file. But I dont see plans or bills of materials within the file, although there is a list broken down in the forum post.

In relation to the nema 17 engines, is there a link on aliexpress ?, or isn't advisable to buy this on Aliexpress and better buy it in an area within the European Union or Amazon.

2. The list of screws, nuts and washers, can be purchased through aliexpress? My question is whether the quality of these can be problematic for the correct function of the machine.

Greetings from Spain :)

@Devils77 : hi ! I use soft-limit but i will install some end-switch soon, the makita is manually setup it's not connected to arduino, then i use T8 100mm shorter than my profil

@Falk : hi, and thanks ! I use 5mm profil then I modify it to be V slot (see on my youtube i show you how), but you can use 6mm profil without modifying it ! I have'nt screw list for now but after a lot of ask i will make it !

@josepa3d : you have the BOM in the design page of the machine (where you download the archive file). Since i work with them, i recommand StepperOnline for motors, they have afordable price and they delivery all around the world. Their price are competitive with Aliexpress, check here : Nem17 Kit . As i said to Falk, "I have'nt screw list for now but after a lot of ask i will make it !"

Cheers !
