Ask me what you want to know about the TopsCNC 馃嚞馃嚙
In this topic you can ask me what you want to know about TopsCNC. I will add the frequently asked question to the main design page here :
TopsCNC Heavy - Design page
But please, read this topic BEFORE ask a question, maybe someone already ask the same question !
The goal of this topic is to stay clear, so each others can find answers too ;)
@Turlutte :
- Yes the gantry can handle more weight, on the Heavy version.
- The "ZAxis_Cart_bigger" can handle any spindle holder as the hole entrax are the same. It's just bigger to reduce play
@shoe :
- Yes i plan to make a better Y Axis for the Nema23 version (not needed for the Nema17 version).
- Yes I'm thinking about a direct drive on Z axis
- V1 can be concidered as a final version, I will not implement a Nema23 version au something hells to keep it as light as possible
@JMDP : Enfait le "Front Z axis support" a tendance a se courber un peut si on serre trop ou si on tend trop la courroie, si 莽a ne convient pas tu peux imprimer tout le Z de la heavy, qui reste compatible avec la V1
Thanks. I always had the impression the V1 Y-Axis could be stiffer even with Nema17.
If you add Direct Drive for Z-Axis, please also add it to the V1 :)
it's ok no problem :)
Hello Topsie, thanks for your great design. I am going to make your CNC with NEMA 23.
.I use the CNC only for cutting 3mm - 30mm Acrylic or PVC to make signboard and 3d letters.
As you know the PVC or Acrylic sheets are coming in standard size of 1220 x 2440 mm.
So I need my working area to be at least 1250 mm width and the length about 1500mm.
Please let me know if I am right to buy the items as the following :.
- X AXIS: Aluminum 2040 5pcs - Length: 1350 mm
Trapezoidal Screw = 1250 mm x 1 pcs -(Note: Should I buy Trapezoida T8 or T12 for nema 23?)
- Y AXIS: Aluminum 2040 4pcs - Length: 1500 mm
Trapezoidal Screw = 1400 mm x 2pcs - (Note:TrapezoidaT8 or T12 for nema 23?)
- Z AXIS: Trapezoidal Screw: 200mm x 1 pcs - (Note: Thelength is 200mm or bigerfor nema 23?
And what aboutTrapezoida screwT8 or T12 for nema 23?)
Hope to hear from you soon, so I can place the order and buy these items.
have a great time and thank you in advance.
Hello SAM,
it's better to use longer axis on X axis instead of Y axis, better to take 5 pieces of 1500mm and 4 pieces of 1350mm.
For trapezoidale screw, for the nema 23 after many feedback, i recomand to take same length as aluminum profils
For Z axis, i recommand to take 300mm screw because the new version "moredepth" need 50mm more length
I have to say it's probably better to use T12 leadscrew for nema 23 version, but the T8 work very fine !
Hello Topsie,
Thank you so much for the information. I appreciate it a lot.
Where can we find an up to date changelog? i have built the machine and have no idea if there are upgrades without reading through the complete forum. is there a version control somewhere? thanks.
Bonjour 脿 tous et 脿 toutes :)
Bonne journ茅e
Hi Topsy .. Soon I plan to start building the machine with Nema 23, but I plan to replace T8 with SFU1204. With dimensions of the aluminum profiles from 1300x1600. I found them at a pretty good price after negotiating with the Chinese in Alibaba. Com. So to the question ... I want to make some changes to the SFU1204 bearing for this purpose I will need the CAD file of the whole machine or the file that generates Fusion 360. Is it uploaded somewhere? I want to open all the designed parts at once so that I can use the already created dimensions, not load them one by one. (I work with Fusion 360) Sorry for my English, but I hope I explained it correctly.
Hello from Canada Topsie, and thanks for making your design available. Open source helps to empower people! A couple of questions for you; in one of your videos, building the Heavy Version I think - you remove v groove nylon bearings when taking the 1st machine apart, When building the new version you use nylon bearings with a flat surface. I'm just sourcing all of the parts now. For Aluminum profiles should I acquire V-groove or will T-groove work? Should those nylon bearings be V-groove or flat like a conventional 3D printer? I've started printing parts and am looking forward to getting this project actually working.... 馃檪one day.
