Ask me what you want to know about the TopsCNC 🇬🇧
In this topic you can ask me what you want to know about TopsCNC. I will add the frequently asked question to the main design page here :
TopsCNC Heavy - Design page
But please, read this topic BEFORE ask a question, maybe someone already ask the same question !
The goal of this topic is to stay clear, so each others can find answers too ;)
Salut Frafra,
Hey Topsie,
Just finished my build to the same specs as yours, I'm having a problem where the machine is cutting a much small figure than programmed too. example a 50 mm cut comes out to be more like 10mm. I am using fusion 360 to create my models and CNC j to seed them to the Arduino board with the DRV8825 motor controller. CNC j says that it is cutting the right values but it does not appear to be if you have any idea where i might of gone wrong i would be greatfull for you take on this.
Thanks so much,
Jack
Bonjour, Jack,
I hope this is the right place to post this. I have searched the entire forum and haven't seen this asked.
I am new to CNC and came across this design, which has to be the best one I seen, so I plan to build it soon, but I'm waiting patiently to see the finalized Nema23 version.
I seen where it was mentioned on the 23 version that the Y Axis will still use the Nema17. My question is how long of a T8 screw can the Nema17 properly handle (I can get them up to 2000mm). I was planning on building a 1400mm x 1400mm profile. Can these motors handle that?
Will the x Axis and the Z axis both use Nema23 in the new version or just the Z axis to lift the router?
Thanks in advance for any help. I don't think I've ever been this excited to build anything in my entire life. Great design Topsie and I'm glad I came across your channel when researching this.
Good afternoon, my name is Jose and I am researching on the construction of a cnc machine, first of all I would like to know if there is any collection where all the files are ordered by version.
I would also like to know how I can modify the materials to build a table with personalized measurements of about 120x70 centimeters.
Finally know if the creator of the machine or someone is Spanish to help me in case of starting construction.
Nice machine, it seems to work very well.
@DB_Texas_PBS : Yes you are in right place ahah, you maybe dont read correctly the Nema 23 design page, I said the Z axis still in nema 17, not the Y axis ^^ To answer your question anyway, my nema17 can handle 1200mm T8 leadscrew without any problem !
@josepa3d : Each version of the machine as it's one design page. To modify the dimension you have just to you the aluminium profil and T8 leadscrew as long as you need. Ensure to use 20cm longer that the work area you need. For exemple, 1000mm profil and leadscrew will result in a 800mm work area. I'm not Spanish sorry but in english, we all here can help you as we can !
Thanks to both of you for your interest in my work !
Hi @Topsie,
Thank you for your design and efforts. This will be my intro CNC machine and I am stoked!
I have some questions about the T8 Nuts:
- Are there on the bill of materials? I didn't see them
- You use a brass T8 Nut on one side and then a printed nut on the back side. Can I also use a bearing on the back side? I fear that unless the spacing between the nuts is perfect, the threading of two nuts will cause unnecessary friction. Does that make sense?
Thanks again!
