In this topic you can ask me what you want to know about TopsCNC. I will add the frequently asked question to the main design page here :
TopsCNC Heavy - Design page

But please, read this topic BEFORE ask a question, maybe someone already ask the same question !

The goal of this topic is to stay clear, so each others can find answers too ;)

Hi Topsie I am very impressed with your heavy cnc you can know what sizes the aluminum profiles and the t8 screws have. thank you

Hi Faebius, I moved you question in the correct topic :)

Otherwise, I use :

  • For X axis, 1300mm aluminium profils and 1200mm T8 screw
  • For Y axis, 1100mm aluminium porfils and 1000mm T8 screws

If I may ask, what are the travel limits for the size that you have built (1100x1300)??

I have 850 x 1100mm of usable area

Got it!  so you lose 250mm on Y axis and 200mm on X axis.  That helps me a lot in determining the extrusion size that I need.  This would be good information to post on the design page :)

On an unrelated note, are you planning on releasing the cad (f3d/step?) files for this build and make it open source?  I, along with others I'm sure, would like to slightly modify certain parts.

Great work so far on the design, I have already begun printing some parts!

Yes I will probably release CAD file after the Nema23 version ! :)

Hey Topsie,

First awesome forum idea.

I am curious, what are your thoughts on the stability of your router? I saw your CNC aluminum video and looks like the router is oscillating a bit judging by the surface finish? Or was that due to another issue?

Also you get a chance to look at my files? Or do you need them converted?

Cheers

You right, I got some small vibrations due to my big 6mm 3 flutes endmill, my parameters was not perfect, I think i must slow down the feedrate and the RPM.
I will also give a try to a 2mm 1 flute endmill, I think I will get a good result !

I haven't had time to watch your files, but I will look at them this afternoon i promise

No worries! I am am making more progress on them during lunch so expect another email.

I can't open your file, but you can create a topic specific for your modification, where you will be able to post some pictures and details ! :)
