Hi all

I have now completed the pyysichal side of my build and am moving on to the control side so I hope that you dont mind if I ask some questions.

I am using the nema 23 kit from stepperonline which came with the DM542Y drivers.

Could one of you kind people advise me what the dip switch settings should be for this configutation please?

Set your switches for 2.37A peak for switches 1 to 3 (OFF, OFF, ON), half current on SW4 (OFF), and the number of steps per revolution you want. You'll need to set your GRBL parameters accordingly for the steps.

For example, I run 3200 steps per revolution, so "ON, ON, OFF, ON" for switches 5 to 8. GRBL steps/mm parameters ($101, $102 and $103 if running the same driver on z axis) is set to 400 for correct travel distances.

Look at the table on your driver if you want to make changes to your microstepping. Remember that your GRBL settings will have to be adjusted accordingly, i.e., more microsteps per revolution means more steps per millimeter.

No worries. :-)

If you want to adjust your microstepping to a different value, the rule will always be to divide it by 8 to get you steps/mm parameter in GRBL. It's because the lead screw will move a T8 nut 8mm in distance with each full revolution.

Thank you for the additional information - I am sure that it will come in very useful if I ever finish this thing! LOL🌝
