Your machine is waaay more finished than mine, impressive job quality, well done
Thanks! Yours has the all-powerful NEMA 23s though, heheh. I'll have to get that done too eventually. 👍
BTW Thomas, did you get more milling abilty with the NEMA 23s? In addition to faster X/Y movement, are you able to get wider stepover and deeper layers per pass (on multiple passes)?
Bonsoir Jean Michel, looking at a similar spoil board setup. Did you use T nut inserts on the back of the board (hammered) or regular inserts from the top? I'm still weighing those 2 options as I'm wondering if the MDF will hold regular inserts overtime.
I'm using screwed inserts from the top into the MDF and it holds really well and I have no long term concerns whatsoever. FYI, they are M8 inserts in 12mm holes. They are sunk in leaving a 4 mm gap to the surface of the board, therefore leaving plenty of room for multiple spoilboard surfacing passes before you have to screw them further down. I say go fot it!
Ok then! You are on a 50mm grid?
Yep! 50mm grid, M8 inserts on 100 mm intervals, dowel holes for the rest. I don't use m4 inserts anymore. More detail on that in the beginning of this post.
Hey guys,
Time to upgrade to NEMA 23! 🤘😁🤘
Strip down started...
StepperOnline NEMA 23 Kit (ignore the other bit and bobs)
Printed upgrade parts
More to come as I progress 😁
Cheers,
JR
Also made a modified spindle holder that allows me to lodge the nuts into the part and avoid messing around with a monkey wrench when screwing the front holder in/out.
I'll post the design to Thingiverse and the design forum soon...
Cheers,
JR
