I built the Nema 17 Heavy Version that is 1500mm (X Axis) and 1000mm (Y Axis).
The motors are functioning and I was able to do some test runs however I have a few issues.
1. When I move gantry to the very front of the CNC one of my Y-Axis seems stops moving (it almost feels like its binding). The motor is trying to turn but it just doesn't want to go. I wasn't sure if it was maybe a bad print on the front left support. Has anyone ran into this?
2. I am also seeing the same problem when I am moving the X-Axis to the far right. I get about 2/3 of the way and then it acts the same way. Feels like there is some type of binding. I did measure the distance of the lead screw to the C-Beam and it appears to be the same distance at each end. So I am not sure what else I can test. Anyone experience this as well?
Everything works great in the back left half of the table.
I am going start taking things apart and testing different things - just wanted to know if anyone ran into this on their build or has troubleshooted this before.
Trevor
Nop I dont have this kind of issues, maybe a video can help us to understand :)
I'm having the same issue, one side moves free but the other side gets stuck, I'm just wondering if the nema 17 motors I am using are powerful enough, they are 26ncm 12v 0.4a. Topsie, can you tell me if these are powerful enough or do I need higher ncm stepper motor?
Thanks
Hi Trevor Just an update, I bought some 59ncm stepper motors and its working perfectly, runs smooth and square, could be worth upgrading them to 59ncm motors
