No problems whatsoever with wood. Mostly Acrylic and Aluminum (6061). Don't get me wrong - I still get very good and precise results, but I'm always looking to improve my machine. I've got another post showing some of the stuff I've been able to accomplish so I'm not complaining that much. 😊
I see you have built a very esthetic machine with great attention to detail. Mine is kept simple in gray... Have you already tried with steel wheels? I have, to minimize the bending of the plastic wheels, steel wheels on top and standard plastic on the bottom. If you go all steel, the Allu rails will wear out too quickly. It is easier and cheaper than rebuilding everything on linear guide.
Thanks for the feedback on the machine!
Hmm, I'm ashamed to admit I didn't notice those steel wheels in your videos. I have now and I'll definitely look into that. I can A/B test the results much quicker than after having completely changed the entire guiding assembly on X-axis. Thanks for the suggestion!
Quick additional question: the spacers in Topsie's design work perfectly with 11mm wide guide wheels. Is that the width of your steel wheels as well, or did you print different spacers?
