I am having a hard time sourcing Metric screws without a paying a fortune for them. Would there be any issues with using the equivalent SAE size screws instead of Metric. (ie. 8-32 Screw versus a M4 Screw)
Are there certain areas that need the metric sizes?
Thanks
Looks like the screws for T-nuts need to be metric. Can't find non metric T-Nuts
I'm sorry i dont know, I use metric screw only... cant you buy screws / tnut on aliexpress or amazon ?
Yes I can. I was just trying to avoid spending about $100 for fasteners when I can buy SAE fasterners for the entire project for under $25.00. I found a place to order the metrics ones for about $70 bucks so I will probably go with that. In Canada we primarily use the metric system but when it comes to screws and lumber it is still in inches and feet.
just thought I would check!
Thanks
DewaltGuy, I had the same issue and went to a local hardware store and left without my wallet. It hurt alot. Then I realized I had a Fastenal nearby and I paid a third for the hardware as I had paid at the local store. They were nice and ran me under a cash account if it made a difference on pricing I do not know. The had picked all the hardware for me and sealed it in small bags with sizes written on them as COVID is still affecting them locally. I had to call in my order, they pulled it all, then met me at the door with the total. I paid 120 at local store and it would of probably cost me like 60 for all I had purchased if it was all done at Fastenal. I would recommend you buying a few extra of each screw if making the original CNC not the heavy as the screw listing seems to not account for the add-ons in 1.2 thru 1.4.
Thanks for the advice. I tried contacting Fastenal here but they haven't returned my call or responded to my emails. Frustrating. I did find most of the screws I need from Spool3d.ca. So I may get them from there.
you might also want to try tacoma screw they have good source of lead screws. I purchased mine from ZYLtech quick shipping and well protected.
