Does anyone have any feedback concerning Nema 23 heating?
I am still testing, and I think we will be OK. I have lowered the current down to 0.71A and pulse stepping 6400. them temp has to be under 50 C
Reducing the current that much mean you have reduced the torque to below the torque of the larger Nema 17 motors though as you will only be getting 1/6 of the maximum torque.. You will be getting 0.5Nm of torque from your 23's whereas I get 0.7Nm from the 17 I have on my Y axis. Might as well use 17's in that case. I haven't got mine up and running yet but have built cooling fan enclosures so that will be interesting to test.
I finished a project this weekend so I will have a lot more time to do so test, will tell you the result !
I decided that fans would be a good idea anyway so built these clip on fan housings. They are open at the bottom and pull the air up through the housing past the motor.

I am looking forward to seeing your test results Topsie.
Does anyone have any information on the Nema23 heat problem?
The above link can't work now, but i find this one is also ok:

same powersupply and nema as he is using in his videos for nema23
Your link and picture is broken https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/image/cache/catalog/stepper-driver/DM542Y%201-1000x1000.jpg,
this one can work and almost the same as above one:https://www.oyostepper.com/goods-898-3-Axis-CNC-Router-Kit-30Nm-425ozin-Nema-23-Stepper-Motor-Driver.html
