Hi, first of all thanks so much for this design and concept i love it.
But im having an issue with my y axis the top rollers found here
are not set off the face far enough and the bottom 3 bolts on the x gantry contact the extrusion and throw it out of alignment. is this a common thing? should i use washers to offset it more or what?
If it helps it seems to be about 2mm to close to the face if i add 2 1mm washers it sits fine
Hi
Not entirely sure I understand your issue, but two comments come to mind
- yes I believe it is common to have to use spacers to adjust the width of the Y carriages to get to a tight, yet smooth fit. I certainly did. Both at horizontal and vertical levels. Maybe my 3D printer is not well calibrated, but I had to.
- heads rubbing against the alu rail - what about using a different head type? Where space was an issue, I have used not the allen type, but a flat screw type, gaining easily 3mm. Maybe an idea?
Good luck
yeah for now i added the washers it seems to work. if it causes issues i'll reeval. the ones im using are these https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-Details.aspx?product=22790 which only have a 2.75mm head depth max i guess i could go to these but then i'd have to countersink https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-Details.aspx?product=22668
