Hi Everyone, my Z-Axis motor was moving. After mounting the spindle and testing again, the z-axis motor only buzzed and twitched but refused to move. Now it does not move at all and appears to not have power.
- I tested the driver with another motor and it works
- I tested the motor with another driver and it works
- I tested both with a single 1m stepper cable and it works
What does not work is a cable built of four 1m cables soldered together. I tested the cable for continuity so there are no breaks in the cable which leads to my questions:
- Is 4 meters too long for a cable? If so, how should i get a cable to the z-axis without going through all cable chains?
- If the cable has continuity, can it still be bad?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Argonaute, I replaced the cable with some long wires out of some Euro8 power cables and now it works. I guess it must have been a short. Its the only way to explain that continuity worked when checking each inndividual cable but that nothing worked when actually running the system.
